Eating Disorder Support in New Westminster
We offer eating disorder support in New Westminster from a team of highly experienced and understanding professionals. People have complex relationships to food, eating, exercise and body image for a variety of reasons. When eating becomes a challenge, it can throw chaos into family life, create stress in day-to-day functioning and chip away at a person’s self-worth.
We look at what sits underneath the eating, rather than focusing on food alone, so there is room for real change. You do not need a diagnosis, a certain weight, or the right words to reach out. If food, movement, or your body is taking up more room in your head than you want it to, that is reason enough.
Who We Work With
An eating disorder rarely stops with one person, and recovery does not have to happen alone either. We work with:
Adults who want their own recovery, whether this is the first time you have asked for help or you are steadying yourself years later
Children and teens, with their parents alongside them
Couples rebuilding trust around food and bodies
Families looking for the words to have hard conversations
We support people living with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID, and body image concerns, along with the many food struggles that do not fit neatly under a name. Come on your own, or bring the people who matter to you.
Emotional Regulation Around Food
Emotional regulation around food means understanding why eating feels loaded and learning to stay with those feelings without letting them run the show. For many people, eating gets tied to emotions, relationships, past experiences, and ways of coping that developed for a reason. Together, we look at what comes up around eating:
Feelings that arrive before, during, and after meals
Body signals you have learned to doubt or talk yourself out of
Old messages about worth, size, and where you fit
Coping habits that once kept you safe
None of this gets rushed. We move at your pace. Without judgement.
A Registered Dietitian on the Team
Nutrition support sits right beside your counselling, not somewhere across town. Our registered dietitian works with you on your relationship with food, without lectures, food rules, or a plan handed down from above. Because she is part of the same team, you will not have to start from scratch with each person or wonder whether your care is connected.
What to Expect
Fill in our new client request form or give us a call. We will get back to you to talk about what you are looking for and who on the team is the right fit. Our team includes registered clinical counsellors, registered social workers, a registered psychologist, and a registered dietitian.
Sessions can be in person at our Sapperton office or online. Virtual sessions are available across BC.
With your written consent, we can coordinate with your doctor, dietitian, or hospital team so everyone is on the same page. You decide what gets shared.
Recovery has its ups and downs. We will not rush you through any of it.
If you need urgent medical care or are in crisis right now, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
Emotion Focused Family Therapy And FBT
Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and FBT - Family based strategies can help families treat eating disorders with a systemic, holistic approach. We bring parents and partners into the equation to help provide the support, care and healing necessary to properly treat eating disorders for good.. We help the people around you understand what sits beneath the illness, respond to distress with more confidence, and repair some of the strain eating struggles put on relationships. Kelly and her team are highly trained, have years of experience in the treatment of eating and body image concerns and will be able to help your unique concerns. You do not need the right words. You just need somewhere to start, together.
Lifespan Integration for Nervous System Dysregulation and Attachment Wounding
Food and body struggles often sit on top of older hurts, and that is where Lifespan Integration (LI) can help. It is a gentle, neurobiological approach that helps your nervous system register that the painful things are behind you, without asking you to retell every detail. You decide what we touch on. Many people find it steadies them while they are doing recovery work with us. Some people find it easier to move beyond talk therapy and to access the nervous system to being the body’s natural tendency towards healing

Many extended health plans reimburse sessions with our counsellors, social workers and registered psychologists, though it is worth checking your own plan since benefits vary from one to the next. Often, yes. Many extended health plans cover sessions with registered clinical counsellors, social workers, or psychologists, and some cover dietitian visits too. It depends on your plan and the designation of the clinician you see, so it is worth a quick look at your policy. We are happy to talk through the billing side with you, no pressure either way.
